Kyushu Institute of Technology Space Startup Kick Space Technologies Established

Kick Space Technologies Inc. has been established as a space startup originating from Kyushu Institute of Technology.

Building on the university’s long-standing technologies and expertise in nanosatellite development, Kick Space Technologies provides integrated support spanning mission studies, design, manufacturing, testing, and operations. In addition to developing CubeSats and other nanosatellites, the company develops and sells hardware and software for small satellites and offers professional services including mission design and analysis, frequency coordination, and environmental testing.

Under the vision “Pioneering the space frontier from Kyushu,” the company aims to provide nanosatellite solutions for missions including Earth observation, satellite communications, and space science. It is also working to establish a nanosatellite development supply chain by drawing on Kitakyushu’s manufacturing capabilities.

Kick Space Technologies has also been introduced as a company founded on technical results from VERTECS, the 6U nanosatellite jointly developed under JAXA-SMASH by JAXA, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Tokyo City University, Kwansei Gakuin University, and other partners. The knowledge gained through VERTECS is expected to contribute to future space-industry activities and new satellite missions.

The VERTECS project will continue contributing to the development of nanosatellite space science missions through industry–academia–government collaboration and will promote the practical application of knowledge gained through satellite development.
