At the Visible and Infrared Instrumentation Technology Workshop 2025, held at Kyoto Sangyo University on November 10–11, 2025, Shunsuke Nakagawa, a first-year doctoral student in the Space Systems Engineering Course at Kyushu Institute of Technology, received the Young Presenter Award (Silver Award).
The award-winning presentation was titled “VERTECS, a 6U Satellite for Cosmic Optical Background Observations: Functional and Environmental Testing of the Flight Model.” It reported results from functional and environmental tests of the VERTECS flight model.
The workshop is held to share technologies for developing astronomical instruments, discuss new technologies, and promote information exchange among graduate students and early-career researchers. The Young Presenter Award recognizes outstanding presentations by early-career researchers, from students to postdoctoral researchers, based on the research content, clarity of explanation, and responses during the question-and-answer session.
Nakagawa received the Silver Award in recognition of the research results and presentation on testing the VERTECS flight model.
